The purpose of the UW Chess Club is to gather the enthusiastic chess minds in the university such that they can learn from each other and mutually improve each other's skills.

Beginning chess players can learn the fundamental tactics and strategies of the game through training sessions run by more advanced players, while others can develop insights and further their skills through discussions and games with each other.

Tournaments will be run throughout the term, and the club may explore opportunities and participate in events outside of the university environment as well.

The chess club runs on Thursdays outside the SLC if the weather is nice, or just inside if the weather is poor. All playing strengths are welcome and you do not require a board or clock to participate, although, if you have one please bring it along!
