Duke of Edinburgh Award: Waterloo Chapter
This is a network of Duke of Edinburgh participants, award achievers & people who want to get involved in Waterloo/Kitchener. Members who have achieved the award will support participants who are completing their award. The group will also encourage students who are not participants of the award to partake in the four categories of the award: volunteer work, physical recreation, skill development and expeditions for personal development or placements related to their field of study at UW.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme has 3 Awards: Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
Each achieved by completing established goals in:
1) volunteer work
2) skill development
3) physical recreation
4) expeditions (+ residential project for Gold)
The flexible, non-competitive award program is self-directed; activities chosen are based on the participant's interests, needs, and resources. It equips participants with the tools to make a difference to themselves, their communities, and their country.
Those over 16 can start at the gold level
Minimum period of participation? 18 months.
Maximum time of completion? Before your 25th birthday!
